Drive-Point Piezometers
Drive-Point Piezometers are a cost-effective way to perform initial site investigations and plume delineations, and are used for groundwater or soil gas sampling, UST monitoring, sparge points and water level measurements.
The Model 615 Piezometer is constructed of stainless steel with NPT threads for atachment to stainless or less expensive steel extensions. Inexpensive steel extensions make it cost-effective to leave these piezometers in the ground for longer term monitoring. An inner polyethylene or Teflon® tube connects the tip to the surface. This prevents the sample water from contacting the steel extensions, allowing higher quality samples.
Model 615 piezometers can be purchased with or without a shield which prevents contamination and smearing of the screen while driving.
They can be driven into loose sands with a hand-held slide and vibrating hammer or a powered rig for greater depths and firmer soils.
The Sand Piper® can be used for easier hammer operation.
The Model 601 Standpipe Piezometer is constructed of PVC with a porous polyethylene filter. They are inexpensive and are suitable for placement within predrilled boreholes and are more suited to peizometric applications than groundwater sampling.
Saturated Sand Sampler
The Model 411 Saturated Sand Sampler is used in conjunction with a drilling rig. A hardened core barrel and drive shoe, allow it to be used to any depth that the drilling rig can reach.
Clear PVC or aluminum sampling tubes are used to obtain 2" dia. (50 mm) continuous soil core samples in 5 ft. lengths (1.5 m). The cores are excellent for pore fluid sampling or stratigraphy and sediment analysis.
The Drive-Point Profiler®
The Model 660 Drive-Point Profiler allows collection of water samples from multiple points, at discrete zones, in a single drive, thus allowing a detailed vertical profile within a single hole.
To prevent cross-contamination from higher elevations; affecting results of lower levels, the profiler tip may be connected to a peristaltic pump using LDPE tubing inside the extension rods. The pump is used to flush the profiler tip and tubing with deionized water during driving and reversed to obtain a sample when the sampling zone is reached.
The Drive-Point Profiler can be installed manually or with truck mounted or drilling rigs, depending on site conditions and the depth required.
The Sand Piper® can be used for easier manual installation. The Profiler is excellent for contaminant vs. depth profiling and allows detailed plume delineation quickly and inexpensively.
The Sand Piper®
The Sand Piper is a highly portable, simple system for installing drive-points and profilers with a vibrating hammer.
Adjustable legs extend to provide steady support while in use. The telescoping mast has a cradle which holds the hammer while driving the piezometer into the soil. It is raised using a hand winch to give a clearance of 90" ( 2.3 m). A remote switch is used to start the electric hammer.
The wheeled frame closes to 7.5' x 2' x 2' (2.3 m x 60 cm x 60 cm) for transportation.
Heavy Duty Jack
A heavy duty jack system allows manual retrieval of the drive-points. It uses 2 jacks, each with a lift capacity of 8,000 lbs (3,630 Kg). The design provides an even and effective lift and is ideal for removing drive-points and profilers when they have been used for temporary installations. Excellent for various pipe diameters ranging from 3/4" NPT to AW and 1" Geoprobe® Rods.
