Cette conduction n\u00e9cessite que les ions pr\u00e9sents dans l&rsquo;eau soient des porteurs de charge. L&rsquo;eau pure ne contient pas d&rsquo;ions (\u00e0 l&rsquo;exception de quelques mol\u00e9cules d&rsquo;eau) et est donc un tr\u00e8s mauvais conducteur d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9. Mais lorsque l&rsquo;eau absorbe des sels chimiques, ces derniers ajoutent des ions \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau lorsqu&rsquo;ils se dissolvent. Ainsi, plus la force ionique de l&rsquo;eau augmente, plus la conductivit\u00e9 augmente : plus l&rsquo;eau est \u00ab\u00a0sal\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb, plus la conductivit\u00e9 est \u00e9lev\u00e9e.    <\/p>\n<p>Notez qu&rsquo;une mesure de conductivit\u00e9 ne vous indique pas n\u00e9cessairement la concentration d&rsquo;ions dans l&rsquo;eau, car diff\u00e9rents ions contribuent diff\u00e9remment \u00e0 la conductivit\u00e9.
