Il DOM \u00e8 una forma molto abbondante di materia organica e rappresenta un&#8217;importante riserva di carbonio reattivo. \u00c8 anche un substrato dinamico che pu\u00f2 subire reazioni per diventare accessibile a batteri, piante e animali come fonte di energia, oppure pu\u00f2 fotodegradarsi con la produzione di composti volatili che possono avere effetti negativi sugli organismi e sull&#8217;ambiente. I DOM contengono tipicamente cromofori che assorbono la luce UV e visibile, da cui il termine materiali organici disciolti (CDOM) cromoforici (o colorati). I CDOM sono anche fluorescenti (da qui il termine FDOM) dopo l&#8217;assorbimento della luce, consentendo ai ricercatori di rilevarne e quantificarne l&#8217;abbondanza nei sistemi idrici grazie alla fluorimetria.      <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Il rilevamento dei livelli di DOM nei sistemi idrici aumenta notevolmente la potenza degli sforzi di monitoraggio e aiuta a spiegare eventi come un&#8217;improvvisa diminuzione della produttivit\u00e0 primaria, cambi di regime del fitoplancton, fioriture algali e cambiamenti nell&#8217;ambiente.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Come si misura la CDOM?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>Esistono molti metodi per rilevare i CDOM nell&#8217;acqua, ma il metodo pi\u00f9 semplice ed economico \u00e8 la fluorescenza in situ. Il sensore CDOM di Turner Designs di Eureka \u00e8 un sensore fluorometrico. La fluorescenza si verifica quando una molecola assorbe l&#8217;energia luminosa a una lunghezza d&#8217;onda e poi la emette a una lunghezza d&#8217;onda diversa. I sensori fluorometrici emettono luce a una certa lunghezza d&#8217;onda e cercano in cambio una lunghezza d&#8217;onda diversa e molto specifica. Il fluorimetro per CDOM di Eureka utilizza l&#8217;eccitazione ultravioletta (UV) per rilevare i CDOM. Sapendo che esistono diverse fonti di CDOM che possono emettere una gamma di lunghezze d&#8217;onda, Turner ha scelto un filtro di emissione a banda larga in grado di rilevare i vari tipi di CDOM presenti nell&#8217;ambiente naturale.       <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cosa devo sapere sulla misurazione della CDOM (Materia Organica Disciolta Colorata) sul campo?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La rilevazione in fluorescenza del CDOM \u00e8 il metodo pi\u00f9 semplice e veloce per stimare i DOM, sfruttando la naturale propriet\u00e0 fluorescente del CDOM di assorbire la luce UV e fluorescere la luce blu. La misurazione del CDOM \u00e8 interessante per i ricercatori a causa del suo effetto sulla luce nelle acque superficiali. La rilevazione della fluorescenza con il fluorimetro per CDOM di Eureka \u00e8 pi\u00f9 sensibile, pi\u00f9 veloce e meno costosa di altre misure qualitative e non richiede la manipolazione del campione. I dati sulla fluorescenza delle acque naturali possono essere raccolti senza dover effettuare estrazioni o altre preparazioni del campione. Sebbene i dati di fluorescenza dell&#8217;acqua naturale siano una misura qualitativa, \u00e8 stato dimostrato che si correlano bene con i dati dei DOM estratti. Grazie alla sensibilit\u00e0 e alla facilit\u00e0 d&#8217;uso di MantaPlus Multiprobe, i dati possono essere raccolti in modo semplice e veloce praticamente in qualsiasi ambiente. Il monitoraggio del CDOM in modalit\u00e0 continua e a flusso continuo, utilizzando l&#8217;adattatore per celle a flusso di Eureka, elimina i problemi associati alla raccolta e alla conservazione dei campioni e consente la correzione automatica degli effetti della temperatura. Il monitoraggio in linea a bordo delle navi permette di raccogliere grandi serie di dati lungo la rotta di una nave. Le applicazioni includono:        <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>  Monitoraggio continuo dello scarico delle acque reflue. La fluorescenza del CDOM corrisponde al carbonio organico totale (TOC), che \u00e8 un indicatore della qualit\u00e0 delle acque di scarico. <\/li>\n<li>  Tracciante naturale di specifici corpi idrici.
